Family Planning Communication
Communication activities are an integral part of virtually every family planning program. They have been used to promote the idea of family planning as well as specific programs, contraceptive methods, and locations where services and products are available. Almost all mediums have been used in family planning communication including radio, television, billboards and brochures. Programs have also experimented with interpersonal communication, including “satisfied users” who are given materials to distribute to their friends and members of their communities. Finally, traditional forms of entertainment such as theater and puppet shows have been used to transmit family planning methods in small towns, especially in Asia.
C-Change is involved in the design and evaluation of mass media and interpersonal communication efforts, and is breaking ground in new mediums such as cell phones, text messaging, and websites.
